Our little garden
We've got a major project going back behind our house this summer. Mark is a great gardener and has worked hard to give the plants the best chance they can to flourish in our soil that is sorely lacking. We have a ton of rocks that had to be tossed out of it and there's still more to go.
A "new look"
I finally got to hang up my amazing birthday present from LeeAnn Freeman on our bedroom wall. I think it looks so beautiful and everyday I'll look at it and think of her precious friendship and what it has meant to me thru the years. Now I know exactly what color my new bedspread will need to be, a deeper pink. (sorry Mark) :)

A fun weekend
Tim and Cindy and Conner came last weekend and tried to have some fun despite the very windy conditions. Cindy was practicing her sewing and did a great job on some quilt blocks. Conner was crawling everywhere and standing up to furniture. What a big boy! We enjoyed having them here and hope they'll come back soon.
Temple baptism trip
Calla and her friends were invited to do baptisms at the temple recently.
They had a memorable experience, and froze when they came out with their wet hair.
Preparing the garden
Mark got to use a neighbor's tractor and prepare the back yard for a garden. It was overcast and turned out to be a pretty day for a picture.
Go team!
We are noticing each year Calla improving in her ball handling skills. She loves going to the batting cage with Mark when we go to Mesa. She has been getting lots of experience playing "catcher" and really enjoys the position. She's quick and hustles well.
Mother's Day 2009
Last weekend we were able to run down and "play." I went to lunch with my wonderful mother-in-law, Ann Reed, and some of her daughters. We ate at a Cracker Barrel and it was delicious. The next day we attended Sacrament meeting with her and I snapped this photo after we pinned on her corsage. She is very beloved in her family.

We decided to take a morning last weekend and ride the "light rail" from Mesa to Phoenix and see the sights. Our favorites were going over Tempe Lake and looking at the high rise construction on Central. A few more bridges and curves, hills and valleys (roller coaster style) would have added some needed excitement, but, hey...it was fun just being together. (How did I not get a picture of Lathe?) He's so photogenic!
Grumps turns 80 on April 30th!
He received a new reclining sofa for his "den" and a new lamp and some pillows on his birthday. The three-seater matching couch should be coming soon. That evening, the family gathered at Bob and Leann's for an outdoor meal and celebration. All the grandchildren emailed their favorite memories of Grandpa and Leann printed them off and pasted them in a little book for him. There were lots of laughs, smiles and hugs that night. A memorable day for an unforgettable "Grumps."
Science Fair Extraordinaire!
Calla and Courtney Baldwin worked together on their science project (along with the amazing help of Mark and Chris). It was on the topic of "pulleys" and how they help lift weight easier. They won 1st place for the 6th graders!
Mini-family reunion April 2009
Thursday, Chris and Jenelle and Dawson arrived at our house and it was a busy afternoon. Chris and Mark worked and experimented with Calla's school science project on pulleys. Jenelle helped me make two big fruit trays for my Stake RS Leadership meeting that night. We were grateful for their willingness to help.Dawson was the "taste tester" and enjoyed the grapes and strawberries. He is a major fruit lover! He switched from saying "Maga" to "Grandma" this trip! He loves to talk and was fun to listen to. He warmed up to everyone really quick. We hadn't seen him in 8 months, so it was obvious as I looked back at the pictures I took that he got in most of the shots.
On Friday, Tim's family and Brookly's family arrived. Here are some fun shots of the weekend. We were pretty much indoors the last two days because of strong winds. Calla was gone alot to play rehearsals and we missed her. Grandpa read to the kids. I gave Cindy her first sewing lesson. The "guys" went looking for ammunition and brought home Kentucky Fried chicken. We got some DQ one night. Played Yahtzee and Jenelle won with two Yahtzee's. Watched an old Christmas video and laughed and laughed together. Ate some good food and talked and shared smiles, kisses and hugs. The next time we get together will be at Thanksgiving,and there will be a new Reed grandbaby by then. Thank you all for coming and sharing a few days at the Reed Roost.

We ran down to Mesa for a few days and I didn't take but two pictures, the kids watching the fish tank. So fun!
Happy 12th Birthday!
Calla's birthday, was memorable (and spread out over two days). On St. Patrick's Day we had our traditional green breakfast. After school we took some of her friends to the Muder's zip line, which they had never been on before. They were nervous, but had a blast. Even Jenny tried it for the first time! Pizza, cake and ice cream was served afterwards.
On her birthday morning the "princess" was served chocolate chip pancakes. That afternoon she had play practice for "Annie" after school and then got to attend her first Mutual night. I snapped a photo when she was getting ready to jump out of the car. When Calla got home she showed us her "Welcome basket" the YW leaders gave her. A great way to end her birthday...with a smile! Calla is a beautiful young woman and we love her very much.
