Pretty drive home from Mesa

Newest member of the Reed family: Kamri Kae

Patiently waiting...

Sweet baby
So new
So quiet
So innocent
So female
So tiny
So loved!

Grandparents can't get enough of her!

Calla's last ball game

It was a night game, and so these aren't the best shots. But she did get to run around the bases...here's proof. Her favorite number to wear is 13. The team name was "Taylor Storm." They had a great season.

Spontaneous picnic

LeeAnn Freeman and her daughter Tiffany called to say that were traveling from Colorado to Mesa and were coming thru Snowflake on their way. We met them at Pioneer Park for a quick "Little Ceasar's" pizza picnic. It was fun to spend a few moments sharing some conversation and laughs. Dear friends forever.

Early morning chores
for a neighbor on vacation.
Hungry bunnies, chickens, goats and cat
await Calla's arrival.

Later that day
her friend brings baby kittens
to cuddle and love
and hopefully give away.
No takers.
Oh, and had I noticed?
They have matching nails.
Ah,summer fun.

Memorial Day 2010

Warm morning
not just because of the hot sun
but special feelings
as we stand over old and fresh graves
of departed loved ones.
Children carefully brush away dirt
teens recline in the shade
planes fly in formation overhead
to pay respect.
Grandma Reed arranges flower sprays
silver-haired Dad walks slowly among the rows
surrounded by headstones and flags.

A memorable Memorial Day.

Anticipation

Future daughter, grand-daughter, sister...
she's in there
somewhere.
Hurry up
baby girl...
we can't wait to meet you!

Girl's Movie date

Mark was resting at his Mom's
so we took off for a morning matinee
a true chick flik
"Letters to Juliet."
We have short arms
and the picture only captures
Brookly
but our eyes convey
the joy and fun
we shared for a moment.
Together.

Preschool graduate

Saylor--
only five!
Adorable grand-daughter
dressed in cap and gown.
Where are you going little one?
We are told she wants to be a doctor
but I think she will be so much more.
Earthly princess,
and someday
wife and mother...
then Heavenly Queen.

Stryder graduated earlier in the day, but I missed it while Grandpa was in surgery. We are so proud of him too, and see enormous potential in his "great" brain!

May 26th, 2010

5 a.m. Hospital check-in
just ten weeks
since his right hip was replaced.
He's back under the knife
trusting a surgeon's hands
again.
A new left hip
such a medical marvel
my Bionic man.

Reading a random magazine
watching the clock
smiling at strangers
looking out the waiting room window
talking and texting those anxiously wondering.
And praying the surgeon
will report all is well.
In my nervousness I forget his name
"Dr. Berghoff!" (I want to call out)
walks past me then turns and smiles
in recognition.
We've been here before together
and his report is the same
all went "just perfect"
and we can both relax.
Thank you.
